Constituencies Served by the Pool Facility
The St. Matthew’s pool, with its adjacent play area, is a valuable resource used and enjoyed by multiple St. Matthew’s Parish and School groups and organizations. St. Matthew’s Parish School uses the pool for physical education, swim team practice and competitions, and for D.E.E.P., the School’s Diving Education Enrichment Program. St. Matthew's Day Camp uses the pool extensively daily during summer. The Parish and School Parent and Infant-Toddler program enjoys the play area adjacent to the pool, and Boy Scout Troop 223, a fixture at St. Matthew’s Parish for over 60 years, uses the pool for Scouting activities and programs.

Old Facility
The current pool was built in 1968 and is need of significant renovation. Architects Pica + Sullivan conducted surveys and drafted a series of design options for the remodeling of the pool. St. Matthew’s Facilities Committee selected the option best suited to serve space and budget needs.

Project Timeline
To minimize disruption to pool users and programs, the proposed pool remodel project commenced in October 2017 at the end of swim season, and conclude before Scouts Aquatic Program and St. Matthew’s Summer Day Camp begins. The target date for completion is June 2018 (subject to weather).

Project Budget
The cost to remodel the pool is approximately $1.768 million and will include demolition of the existing pool structure, construction of a retaining wall, the new pool, remodeling changing rooms, restrooms, and bleacher seating, resurfacing the adjacent parking area, and improving picnic and play areas.

Pool Remodeling Project Funding
Funding the Pool Project is a collaborative philanthropic effort of the multiple stakeholders who rely on the pool; St. Matthew’s Parish School, the Parish of St. Matthew’s Day Camp, and Boy Scout Troop 223. Fundraising for the Pool Renovation Project began during the 2014-2015 school year. Brochures were mailed to approximately 2,400 households, including School, Parish, Day Camp, Boy Scout Troop 223 and alumni families. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we have raised a substantial portion of the total cost of the pool renovation. We have achieved our $1.7 million Pool Project Campaign goal. Additional contributions are most welcome to for additional expenses; shade, changing rooms, bleachers and more.
