Timothy Whiteman » Biography

Mr. Whiteman is excited to join the St. Matthew's Parish School family after transitioning four years ago into the wonderful world of education. He was a 5th Grade teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District at Playa Vista Elementary School before coming to co-teach our 4th Grade innovators. Prior to that worthwhile professional pivot, he was a sports marketing executive and gained valuable experience as well as built a network of strong contacts in the sports business world. But teaching has been and will always be one of his true passions. He holds dear the beliefs that education should be student led and teacher supported as well as the importance of our youth to be the change they want to see in the world.

Mr. Whiteman is originally born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, attending undergrad at Skidmore College (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and received his Masters in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University here in L.A. When Mr. Whiteman is not shaping young leaders of the future in the classroom, he feeds his other passion which is sports and enjoys coaching youth sports like basketball, baseball, lacrosse, and flag football. He also mentors college-age young people as well as tutors youth. He lives in Inglewood, CA with his wife and children.
