The Rev. Kristin Neily Barberia has been the School Chaplain at St. Matthew's since 2007, after previously having served on the Parish staff from 1995-2000. A graduate of Yale Divinity School, Berkeley (Episcopal) Divinity School and the Institute of Sacred Music at Yale, Mrs. Barberia was ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1990. She has served at parishes in Pasadena, Los Angeles, and Pacific Palisades. As the School Chaplain, she oversees Chapels, Service Learning and teaches Religion classes for 3rd through 7th Grade. She is involved in pastoral care, ethical development, and other aspects of spiritual life within the St. Matthew's community. Growing up as an Episcopal “clergy kid,” Mrs. Barberia always has found the rhythm of the church year, the nurture of a faith community, and the challenge to "go in peace to love and serve the Lord" to be a firm foundation. Her hope is that the rituals, spiritual development, and ethical framework found at St. Matthew's Parish School will help the students serve, lead, and flourish for a lifetime.
