Mr. Alex Morales, a native Angeleno, began teaching PS-4th Grade Music at St. Matthew’s Parish School in 2002. He has also been the Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator since 2014. Prior to St. Matthew's, Mr. Morales spent two years as a 1st-6th grade Music Specialist with the Rowland Unified School District (Rowland Heights, CA); eight years as a Kindergarten teacher for the Sulphur Springs Union School District (Canyon Country, CA); and two years as a Teacher’s Aide for the Los Angeles Family School (Silverlake). He is a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Studio City, where he serves on the Vestry, sings in the Choir, and was the Children’s Choir Director for three years. Mr. Morales holds a Bachelor of Arts in Design from the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as a Multiple Subject Credential (authorizations in Art and Music) and a Master of Arts in Music Education, both from California State University, Los Angeles. He has been an active Board member of the Los Angeles Chapter Orff Schulwerk Association, a non-profit music education organization, since 1993. He was also a Local Conference Co-Chair for the 2004 American Orff-Schulwerk Association Professional Development Conference. Mr. Morales strives to provide his students with joyful, engaging and active musical experiences by which to gain a good foundation in the elements of music.
