Ms. Rains joins the St. Matthew’s 4th grade team with an enthusiasm for teaching and an eagerness to dive into something new. She began her career in education in 2018 as a 3rd grade teacher and this past year transitioned over to Junior High where she taught 8th grade Language Arts. While she loved the connection she was able to make with her 8th grade students at such a pivotal time in their lives, she missed the fun and inquisitive nature of her previous elementary students. She is so excited to be back in the lower school classroom and can’t wait for the “light-bulb” moments that are ahead. One of Ms. Rains’ most basic goals for teaching is to instill a passion for learning in her students. She knows that every child has the potential to succeed and be his or her best self, so she teaches in hopes that her students realize that in themselves, through hard work and GRIT. Additionally, Ms. Rains is really looking forward to coaching the girls 6th grade volleyball team alongside Mrs. Zukoski this year.
Ms. Rains received her BA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Teaching & Learning at CSUCI, and immediately after, began a dual graduate program at UCSB where she earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Masters of Education.
Ms. Rains was blessed to be born and raised in Ojai, California, a small tight-knit community much like the Palisades. It is because of her beautiful hometown and So-Cal upbringing that she developed a love for sunshine and the outdoors. She is an exercise enthusiast and enjoys cooking, hiking, waterskiing, and going to the beach. She also loves spending time with her Golden Retriever pup (keep your eye out and you may even see them walking through the Village!)
She is very excited about educating the future generation and providing them with knowledge and skills that will allow them access to so many wonderful opportunities in life.
