Katie Koestner's
The Birds & the Bees in a #MeToo World:
Teaching Our Children about Healthy Relationships, Sexual Misconduct, and Respect

Thursday, March 4, 2021
9:30 am - 10:30 am

What is the new norm for teen relationship culture? Does “sexting” really happen, and if so what are the legal and social consequences? How do gender roles and gender expectations impact how our children learn to interact in intimate situations? Peer pressure to go farther and faster with less attachment than ever abounds. Can even "good kids" succumb to negative influences and unhealthy relationships?

Katie Koestner, who appeared on the cover of TIME Magazine at age 18 and is the subject of an HBO movie, teaches parents about the difference between “flirting” vs. “hurting” and how laws and policies have changed around relationships over the last 20 years. As the parent of twin teen boys herself, Katie provides both knowledge and skills for parents to talk with their children about sexual misconduct, consent, and healthy relationships. Learn how to have meaningful conversations with your teen about their relationships and relationship expectations. Katie Koestner provides a comprehensive look at the risks your teens may face when it comes to social networking, harassment, sexual exploitation, and other relationship issues.
