St. Matthew’s Parish School’s Early Childhood Program is looking for talented early childhood educators who are passionate about working with preschool and pre-kindergarten age children. We believe young children gain a sense of their identity and self-worth when they explore at their own pace and experience success at their developmental level. Learning at this age is through experiential interactions with materials, ideas and other people. Play is one of the major ways in which young children learn about the world around them. Through play, children learn about language, develop intellectual concepts, build social relationships and understandings, strengthen physical skills and deal with stress. Children foster independence, strengthen skills and master concepts through learning experiences that feature. Our program nurtures growth in all areas of human development: cognitive, physical, personal-social, creative, and spiritual. We respect each child’s pattern of development, recognizing the uniqueness of each young person while creating a supportive and caring peer group and school setting. Assistant teachers will support master teachers in planning, implementing, and evaluating a daily curriculum of developmentally appropriate activities for young children; assists in supervising the children at all times ensuring their safety and well-being including cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining organized environment-helping children with daily routines. Assists Master Teacher in a classroom of Preschool or Pre-Kindergarten children and maintains a developmentally appropriate child-centered program.  

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working in a licensed childcare facility preferred
  • Coursework in early childhood education or child development, 12 credits preferred but will accept 6 units if currently attending school
  • The ability to meet state and/or accreditation requirements for education and experience
  • Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

St. Matthew’s Parish School is seeking a Lower School (K-4) Technology/Innovation Specialist Teacher. This teacher will be an embedded co-teaching member of one grade-level team at a time, rotating into a new team every 3 weeks. They will teach an intensive series of classes that integrate technology skills, design thinking, making, coding, and robotics into each grade level curriculum. As a member of the grade level team and the technology team, they will also support other aspects of instruction and supervision throughout the day.

We expect that the ideal candidate will be an innovative teacher who is passionate about integrating technology, design thinking, making, coding, and robotics into instruction, effective at communicating with adults and children, collaborative, organized, and motivated to learn about current and evolving practices.
 
POSITION: Interim Lower School Technology/Innovation Specialist Teacher
REPORTS TO: Lower School Principal
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, plan and teach engaging technology, coding, robotics, design thinking and Maker skills to students in K-4 in an intensive integration model
  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers, the Director of Technology and Innovation, and Remote Learning teacher in establishing curriculum that is integrated with core curriculum, supporting established projects, and introducing new ideas
  • Serve as a member of a grade-level team, providing instruction, academic support, and supervision throughout the day during both remote, hybrid, and in-person learning
  • Prepare and deliver lessons synchronously and asynchronously
  • Supervise students in outdoor activities
  • Work collegially and collaboratively with diverse faculty
  • As a member of the Technology Team, foster a culture of independent use of technology throughout the school
  • Other duties as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Teaching Credential preferred
  • High proficiency with computer hardware and software in an Apple (macOS & iOS) environment (Apple Productivity Suite, Google Apps for Education, Scratch)
  • Knowledge and experience with Maker movement and motivation to learn more about Maker Spaces and practices
  • Understanding of and experience with Design Thinking
  • Experience with coding and robotics systems, microcontrollers, and software (Scratch, microbit, Hummingbird)
  • Experience with digital fabrication (3D printing and laser cutting)
  • Curiosity and ability to quickly learn new software and maker skills
  • Comfortable with a variety of hand and power tools, and can model safe and careful use
  • Experience working with lower elementary-aged children
  • Experience developing, writing, and delivering curriculum
  • Classroom management skills necessary to ensure a safe, productive, and positive environment
  • Ability to work effectively, communicate, and collaborate in a team situation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to multi-task and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time, including sitting in front of a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
