We hope you are well and staying healthy at this unprecedented time. St. Matthew's Parish School has closed our physical campus but we are fully engaged in distance learning. The School Office, however, is still open remotely and available to you and your family.
Wishing our faculty, staff, parents and students a restful, healthy and well-deserved Spring Break and Happy Easter! We will see everyone back in the digital classroom on Tuesday, April 14!
In response to the current Coronavirus pandemic and the need to cut back on community spread, we have moved to distance learning for our students. Staff will be working remotely and available during normal business hours at (310) 454-1350. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe and healthy.
We have good news to report. As of 5:00 pm last night, LAFD announced the repopulation of areas impacted by the Getty Fire. 27% of the 745 acres are now contained, and Mandatory Evacuation and Warning orders are now lifted (with the exception for the area surrounding N. Tigertail Rd.). Both Sepulveda Blvd. and the 405 Freeway are fully open to traffic. While strong winds are still in the forecast through Thursday evening, we can expect to reopen St. Matthew’s on Friday, November 1, as scheduled. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and flexibility and look forward to getting back to normal after a disruptive week. Please do not hesitate to reach out for support with transitions back to homes.
SMPS will be closed for the next two days, Wednesday, October 30 through Thursday, October 31. The National Weather Service issued a rare extreme red flag warning for our area beginning tonight through 6:00 pm Thursday evening. All campus activities and conferences are cancelled—we will do our best to reschedule. Traffic Westbound on Sunset is closed from the 405 to Temescal Canyon. Mandatory Evacuation Zones (Red) and Evacuation Warning/Preparedness Zones (Yellow) remain in effect. Please continue to exercise caution. We will post updates on the website. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

SMPS will be closed today, Tuesday, October 29. A large percentage of our families have been displaced and not expected to repopulate or are assisting evacuated families. 600 plus acres have burned so far with damaged structures. Several neighborhoods in the Palisades and adjacent communities continue to be in Mandatory Evacuation Zones (Red) and Evacuation Warning/Preparedness Zones (Yellow), including St. Matthew’s. While firefighters have halted the forward progress of the fire, we are expecting another round of strong Santa Ana winds beginning Tuesday evening through Thursday, contributing to high fire danger in our area. Please visit the Parent Portal and link, Getty Fire Information for Families, for updated information, and stay tuned for further alerts regarding the next couple of days.
