Parent-Infant/Toddler Program
PARENT-INFANT/TODDLER PROGRAM MISSION STATEMENT
St. Matthew's Parent-Infant/Toddler Program is an auxiliary program of St. Matthew's Parish School, serving those families of the school, parish, and larger community who have children and infants age three and younger. Emphasizing the needs of both, we provide a setting in which young children and parents together can participate with other families in a supportive, educational, and enjoyable program.
PHILOSOPHY
From the inception of our program in 1977, we have believed that one of the most joyous and challenging times for both parent and child is that of the child's very early years from birth to age three, beginning with the dependency of the infant and progressing through the thrust for independence of the two-year old. We value the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the process of parents and children learning to adapt to one another and grow together in this early part of their mutual journey through life.
Although many of the events of this period are universal, families come to us bringing unique patterns of living, learning, and loving. We recognize the dignity, worth, and individuality of every parent, every child, and every family, and strive to value and protect those differences, while exploring positive approaches to child guidance and maintaining a cooperative group consciousness and spirit.
Among the unique benefits of participation in our program are the long-term friendships, which frequently develop.
