Amy Weiss » Biography

Biography

Mrs. Weiss began living her dream of being an early childhood educator in 1988 when she accepted her first job in the field and began her professional training. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies in 1995 from California State University, Northridge, and she was awarded her Preschool through Eighth Grade Teaching Credential in 1998, two years after joining St. Matthew’s. Mrs. Weiss believes children learn best through play which follows a dynamic curriculum centered on units such as senses, oceans, seasons, insects, and holidays and traditions. By helping children discover the world around them through moving, singing, creating, observing, listening, and discussing, her students build a foundation for elementary school and beyond. Mrs. Weiss is a lifelong learner who regularly enjoys attending conferences to stay abreast of developing educational practices. She rarely takes a trip or visits a museum without finding something new to complement the preschool curriculum. Mrs. Weiss joins her husband and son in supporting civic and environmental efforts.
